Barney’s Love Yourself beauty event this year is being re-named the Bag Event and it starts on Wednesday. For a fantastic preview please see Lola’s Secret Beauty Blog.

My husband has lately been a little jealous I think of all of the fabulous subscription boxes I keep getting in the mail, so I dug around and found a couple subscriptions he might like. The first is a t-shirt of the month club, Startup Threads is $19.95/month ($14.95 plus $5 shipping) and you get a t-shirt from an up and coming company plus maybe some stickers and other swag as well. We got the first shirt this weekend and he really liked it and says he would like to get some more (plus now I get to throw out one of his ratty old shirts, so its a win-win!). Also I emailed them a question and the owner wrote right back to me and was so friendly, I like supporting new businesses and this seems like a great way to do that.

Inside our order from Startup Threads was a postcard advertising a men’s subscription box I had not heard of called 12Society. Now I looked around online and reviews of previous boxes are mixed; but there is a coupon for your first month so I signed him up anyway. 12Society costs $39/month which includes shipping (you are supposed to receive 3-6 items valued at $85; this kinda sorta sounds like Pop Sugar Must Have for men but the jury is definitely still out). You can get 25% off your first month with code 25FORTHREADS at checkout (expiration unknown). And while on their site I clicked on the link for their new site 12Societee, another men’s t-shirt of the month club. This one is a bit pricier at $29/month (includes shipping) but you can get $10 off your first month with code TENOFF at checkout. So now he has three monthly subscriptions and can stop being jealous of mine.

For those who are interested, a list of some of my current subscriptions, how much it costs, and a micro review:

  • Pop Sugar Must Have: $35/month which includes shipping; you get a mixture of home, beauty, and lifestyle products. This is one of my favorite monthly boxes, I have been pleased with almost everything I have received and it is so fun to get in the mail each month. Get $5 off your first month with code REFER5 at checkout
  • Birchbox: Still my favorite beauty subscription box, I have tried them all and it is the only one I still subscribe to (not that the many others aren’t great, but I only have so much in my budget to spend on my subscriptions). $10/month which includes shipping and you get 4-5 deluxe beauty samples plus an occasional “lifestyle treat”
  • Love With Food: $12/month ($10 for the box and $2 for shipping; plus they donate a meal to a hungry child for each box sold). You get several new snack foods to try each month and I have yet to be disappointed
  • Goodies Co. Taster’s Box: I just signed up for this one and haven’t received it yet but it is just $7/month which includes shipping and you get several new snacks to try
  • Little Black Bag: See my previous post to read about how much I love love love this shopping and trading site. They have a new promotion starting today, every order receives a free Vosges chocolate bar ($8 value), while supplies last

Thanks you, that’s awesome!!I also did an individual post about the special REN step-up for Lola’s Secret Beauty Blog readers since the master post is getting so big- and I didn’t want it to get lost in the shuffle– your help is tremendously appreciated- because it will really get the information out there about this added gift! I’m very pleased about the REN gift for everyone! You are so welcome for my efforts, but it is really you that deserves the credit for what you do for us every single day!🙂 Helen

Well the feeling is mutual with respect to loving your blog! It was my pleasure to do the legwork- it’s a labor of love. I added a new update as well. Barneys/REN is now offering added gifts exclusively for Lola’s Secret Beauty Blog Readers (it’s in the most recent update). They just have to mention that my blog sent them and ask for the REN rep Suzi (at the Beverly Hills Location)- all of the information is in the post. REN also added another deluxe sample to their step-up gift! Have a wonderful day!!

Dear GWP Addict, I was curious after reading that Birchbox is your favorite beauty box if you have tried Ipsy and Beauty Army recently? I recently canceled my Birchbox subscription because I felt like it was a waste of money as the samples were tiny and always problematic. I have only had one Beauty Army box but I love it! Everything in it was great and I liked getting to pick my seven samples. Plus the boxes are so cute for re-use. And Ipsy never dissapoints… Just wanted to share with you in case you are looking for a change from BB.

I did try Beauty Army when they launched, but at the time I wasn’t too excited about the brands they were offering. I do like the fact that you can choose your own samples; it may be time to revisit them! And I have heard great things about Ipsy but don’t they focus more on makeup than skincare? I am definitely more of a skincare sampling gal than makeup (I don’t wear lipstick or blush but I have a frightening collection of moisturizers!).

      • Brandi Y. says:

Yes, Ipsy is def more make-up centric. I have gotten hair cair, nail polish and primers, but not really any skin care. Good for me because everything except Clinique freaks my skin out!

Thanks so much for posting my Barneys Love Yourself Bag Event– I hope that it is helpful to your lovely readers! I am continually updating it. If I’m close to over my cold- I will go and shoot the event and post pictures! xo

Oh thank you very much for the link! Wow, i feel like I missed on a lot already, really love the blue one (the first one). At least from the lilly pulitzer gwp’s this one’s quite good, so i guess i’m just going to have to eat the near $10 shipping *sigh* Really need another bottle of ANR lol. Thank you!

  6. Kai says:

Man it’s such a bummer that Dillard’s doesn’t have free shipping offer. :\ Is there any more GWP for Estee Lauder coming up, anyone know? I wish i can tell, so i can figure out if i should wait or just go for it now! LOL

As always, love this site. Thanks! 😀
